Dualta Doherty and I got together for an impromptu session where we discussed what we both believe will be an important component of careers.
It will be community.
A group of like-minded individuals who will be part of a community that will provide permission and services for individuals to show that they are more than a resume. To date, the resume has been the primary mechanism of attracting attention and getting an interview. We are all more than a resume, we may actually approaching a period where a resume, LinkedIn profile, and a personal web page will provide a broader perspective on who you are as a person and not as a list of employers, titles and schooling. People are a chorus of experiences, interests, accomplishments and beliefs. Companies and careers will all benefit from this approach.
We also discussed putting in the work to become a Subject Matter Expert and then extrapolating that out and helping people solve their problems by providing your super power to their chorus of solutions will lead to success.
