Great sessions discussing the emerging market of endovascular robotics in interventional neuro, peripheral, and cardiac applications at Society of Robotic Surgery | SRS 2025.

A few observations for next year’s sessions as this category of conversations expands. Silos do not serve any of our categories well:

  • More strategics who will ultimately drive the adoption of these systems on the panels
  • More clinicians who can offer deeper insights through provocative questions directed at the developers and ultimate end users.
  • More health care providers who will need a change management approach to address potential of a hub & spoke model and the new workflow that will be required.
  • Representatives / Owners from ASC’s to address form factors, Opex vs Capex decisions, surgery as a service partnership models, economic models that support the lack of human capital in the OR.

While technology solutions are complex and critical, so are the business, leadership, and change management questions that require deep thought and potential solutions.

  • How will leadership be impacted when the De facto leader is no longer physically present in these procedures? The consequences are high. The surgeon / interventionalist has been the “at the front” leader. How do we manage that substantial change of dynamics in the OR?
  • Who owns the change management educational component into the sites of care that will be required as work flow changes, number of bodies in a procedure change. Many medtech companies, that no longer exist, did not realize that you cannot just drop a technology on the doorstep of the site of care and expect it to find its way.

Great thanks to the participants: Robocath – Philippe Bencteux MD, Edvardas Satkauskas – Sentante, Harel Gadot – Microbot Medical, Ryan Madder, Fred Khosravi, Adnan Siddiqui, MD, PhD, David Leo Fischel – Stereotaxis, Matt Curran – Nanoflex Robotics.

It was very appropriate that the session took place in the Leon C. Hirsch Auditorium at IRCAD.
