Vygon Group said today that it acquired Pilot, an Italian company that specializes in electrocardiography guidance devices, for an undisclosed amount.
Écouen, France-based Vygon said the goal of the acquisition is to integrate Pilot’s ECG location and navigation technology into its own TLS product, which is already marketed by Vygon, according to a release. The TLS is designed to enable precise positioning of the distal tip of central venou2206s catheters in patients with atrial fibrillation.
The TLS ECG guidance system is designed to serve as an alternative to radioscopy and fluoroscopy, reducing the risks of repeated exposure to X-rays for patients. It is only commercially available for patients with Afib.
Vygon added that the acquisition will enable the company to offer customers a wide range of intravascular therapies on an international scale.
Pilot TLS manufacturing and any future development is slated to be handled by Vygon at its production and development site in Medwin, France. The location, near Montpelier, specializes in active medical devices, Vygon said.
“This new acquisition is part of our group’s external growth strategy,” Vygon CEO Stéphane Regnault said in prepared remarks. “We have been working with Pilot for the last three years. The internalization of its ECG guidance system will enable us to consolidate our offering of intravascular therapies on the international market.”
